In 2021, Father Hervé Andongui contacted our project manager with a clear goal in mind: to find medical equipment for a new health center project in the village of Lifoula. The construction of this center was driven by the urgent need to reduce the mortality rate—especially infant mortality.
At the time, people had to travel nearly 45 km on rough roads to reach the nearest health center. This situation was no longer sustainable, and opening a health center became a pressing need for the 20,000 people living in Lifoula and the surrounding area. In 2025, after several years of hard work, the center was finally able to open its doors.
HWF contributed to this effort by sending the equipment needed to launch the center. From basic items like blood pressure monitors to surgical instruments and hospital beds, our organization provided the essential equipment required to care for the population. Thanks to our support, the center can now host around thirty inpatients, offer basic medical care, perform minor surgeries, and provide gynecology-obstetrics and pediatric services.
“Led by Father Hervé Andongui, who serves in the parishes of Anderlecht, this project was carried out with great energy. We successfully shipped a 60m³ container of medical equipment to this new health center in Lifoula, meeting the urgent needs of a population that previously had nothing.
HSF is truly fortunate to collaborate with such dedicated and committed individuals. This project is a perfect example of how personal commitment to the common good truly bears fruit.” – Laura Pierre, Humanitarian Project Manager
